Open Mike Spaces Still Available: All Categories

Open MikeCome one! Come all! Open Mike is on Friday April 4th, 7:30 pm. We’ve still got a lot of spaces left, so the cash prizes are up for grabs.

We’re looking forward to a great evening of poetry, fiction, true stories and words and music. We have  people coming from as far as Elliot Lake and Sault Ste. Marie to compete.

So, c’mon out! Even if you don’t compete. It’s always fun when we have writers from across the region all gathered in one room.

The cost for a spot to compete is $5.00 and you have five minutes to strut your stuff.

We have four categories: fiction, poetry, true stories, and words n’ music. Words n’ music pieces can be parodies, or poetry with a background beat or tune… However you interpret it, be sure the words are your own. (So yes, that means you can steal the tune!)

The audience votes by secret ballot and we award $50 cash prizes in each of the categories.   Admission for non-competitors is $7.00. And yes, it is fair game to stuff the room with friends and family. They won’t mind; there’ll be snacks and a cash bar.

Location: Thessalon Legion (downstairs). The address is 18 Algoma St. W., behind the pharmacy on Main St.

Hope to see you there!
