Brian Henry Workshop a Great Success

writers at work

Brian started the workshop by giving us the signposts on the road to publishing

When Brian Henry came to teach us how to get published, he shared a trade secret.

From the following three factors:
1. a good book
2. luck
3. persistence
you only need two to succeed.
(Think it over: Harry Potter = a good book and persistence; Twilight = persistence and luck; any ‘overnight success’ = a good book and luck)

We’d like to add that a workshop with Brian Henry helps too!

This workshop was so popular, we had to change venues at the last minute to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend.

During the course of the day, Brian had everyone in the room writing query letters for their book projects (or dream book projects); he gave us the dirt on how to approach editors and agents; then he dished on the nitty gritty of how to negotiate once you’ve got them listening.

Oh, and he was funny too.

If you are kicking yourself for not making it out to the workshop, catch up with Brian online. Sign up for his blog and learn about upcoming contests, agents looking for new authors, and much more.

Great to hear from you Joanie! We hope to meet you soon at one of our events. All the best with your writing in the meantime.

  2. Thanks, Sue, for suggesting we host Brian! He gave us permission to share the materials with you.

    • Thrilled he was so well received! I look forward to getting my ‘stuff’ from you!
My first 100 books are in my hot little embrace finally….got them yesterday….more will be shipped.(ALWAYS BY OUR SIDE…..Mitchell’s Story) It is a little book about a little dog with the heart of a LION. The book will be available online in about a week, apparently, but I will bring some to the April Writing Group.
I have a table reserved at 3 Lions Club conventions booked through the summer and I will be doing a lot of marketing as soon as we get home (Hopefully by this upcoming weekend). Proceeds of the book will be donated to Lions /foundation Canada Dog guides.
Looking forward to seeing you all again later this month!
