Gear up for NaNoWriMo!

Have you ever said, “I want to write a book”? If you have a novel in you, time to spit it out, at the rate of 1,667 words a day.

That’s all you need to write to finish 50,000 words in the month of November, National Novel Writing Month. It doesn’t have to be the world’s greatest novel – haven’t you ever heard the term “sh*tty first draft”?

Once again, Stories in the North will be sponsoring events around NaNoWriMo – a kick-off, several group write-ins, and possibly even an open mike where you can read aloud from your magnum opus.

Keep watching this space for an announcement about the kick off.

In the meantime, the Thessalon Public Library is hosting another poetry evening on Monday, October 28th. Anyone who attends can read up to three poems. Don’t write poetry? We don’t care! Choose three favourites and read those. Who knows, you may be introducing us to a poet we’ve never heard before! Just come on out – reading starts at 7:00 p.m., with coffee and treats to follow.
